Photographs and negative, ca. 1930-1960.

The collection consists of two series, Negatives and Photographs. The majority of the collection consists of undated Negatives (1.25 cubic ft.) of Grace's relatives. There are many negatives of a family with four girls celebrating Catholic sacraments, birthdays, going to school, holidays, vacations, etc. There are a number of negatives of a family with two boys. Many negatives are of a nun, first as a novitiate and, later, as a professed nun, by herself, with other nuns, or with other nuns and family members. None of the people in the negatives are identified. There are also negatives of family pets, vacations, Grandma's backyard, etc. The rest of the collection consists of Photographs, some of which are dated or otherwise identified (.5 cubic ft.). Most of the photographs document Grace's nursing experience and training during World War II. Photographs show nurses working, relaxing, on ship, in trucks, hauling equipment, and sightseeing; other medical staff; Japanese prisoners; patients; animals; scenic wonders; island natives; and vehicles. Buildings are indentified Fort Custer (Battle Creek, Mich.), in Oct. 1943, while additional, unidentified images are from that summer and the winter of 1944, Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, in 1944, and Bureaun, the Philippines, in 1945. A number of photographs plainly show the 44th General Hospital signs. A few remaining photographs show family barbeques and children in Aug. 1960, and the nun with a little girl in the girl's backyard, Sept. 1956.
